Update

Our month of recovery for Drew's surgery is almost done!! This has been a very long month. He is being a champ though. I don't think I would be a pleasant person if I had to wear those arm restraints all the time. We had our check-up with the ENT this week for his tubes. They are looking great. Then we had a hearing test, which I did not know we were having. So after already waiting 40 minutes in a doctors office and being around nap time, they decided to have myself and Drew sit in a booth. They made sounds to the left or right and was wanting him to turn his head to the direction of the sound. Let's just say he did not pass. The test I felt was long and there were times I could not even hear the sound...guess I failed too :) Then the lady put these things in his ears to test his ear drums (I guess) but says he needs to be absolutely quiet. Okay here is a 13 month old boy with tubes in his nose, having difficultly breathing and you want him to be quiet...not happening. By the end of the hearing test I was upset and frustrated. I felt like this lady was only looking at what her machines were saying and not looking at Drew and all the factors against him at this moment. She wanted to do another test that would require him to be put out....hummmm NO!!! I asked what would be the long term issue, she respond with speech therapy. I so wanted to hit her on the head and say he will already have speech therapy...there is NO rush right now. Leave the poor boy alone. I told her we would come back when his nose tubes are gone, it is not nap time and try it again. I called Mark and told him, he is going to that visit :)
We go next week for our month post surgery check-up. I will be so excited to hear the words you can take the arm restraints off and Drew will be more excited. After surgery the doctor did say that most likely his palate would open up. Today we noticed it has split :( I don't know why it hit me so hard when I saw. I knew it was a possibility, but I felt so sick to my stomach. So this means that within the next year we will be going back for round two. I think his lip looks great, so hopefully it will be just the palate. Round 2 will hopefully be easier only for the fact that been there done that...but you never know. Right now I'm just praying for peace. This was not a surprise to God that it split, so why should it be to me? God knew and God knows when it will be fixed. God is in control not me.

So Adie, our youngest daughter, is well never ending. She has decided that she likes picking the tomatoes off the tomato tree even if they are as green as can be. She was very proud of herself....I was not :(
