Some Positive News from Vietnam

One step a little bit closer :) This was given as part of our Vietnam update from our Agency:

"While attending a JCICS meeting, Keith was told that Janice Jacobs, who is a Deputy of Secretary of State, is traveling in Southeast Asia and added a day to specifically go to Hanoi to meet with Vietnam government officials and express the United State's desire to move forward with negotiations to open up adoptions again.
Now that the Tet holiday will be coming to an end, we know that business will start to get back to normal in Vietnam in the next week or so. Our Vietnam office will once again be open on Monday."
Still no guarantees that this will help but it is one baby step closer. Pray that this Ms. Jacobs will be received by the Vietnam government and that the 2 countries will start their negotiations very soon and come to an agreement.

Update on Family

From Jan's blog: "praising God from the other side of the world! alyssa was allowed to be taken from the orphanage and her parents are over the moon! she weighs 9.5 lbs. at 1 year and although very little, she seems alert and inquisitive. they took her straight to the western clinic and she checked okay! some of the moms of babies are thinking that the babies have been fed rice water and not formula which could explain the lack of body weight. all the babies weigh between 9.5 and 13 lbs. and they are all right at one year old... i am grateful that God allowed these 10 kids to come to America."

Praise God! Thank you for all the prayers. Continue to pray for this family.

Prayer Needed

A family that traveled with Jan needs our prayers. They knew that their One year old daughter was sick but it is worse then they expected. Their one year old child is only 8 1/2 pounds and is VERY ill. The orphanage has just now allowed them to visit their daughter (Wednesday) they have been in Vietnam since Saturday.

Pray:
  • that they will be able to get this little girl the help she needs NOW
  • that the orphanage will allow them to take her
  • the Doctors will know how to treat her and get her better
  • that they will be able to come home with their little girl
  • peace and patience for this couple
  • support from the other couples with them
  • most importantly God's will to be done for this family and the little girl
  • Jan and Phoebe
  • Vietnam to open so that we can go get our little boy!!!!
  • health issues for all the children in the orphanage

Pass on these prayer request as only God can heal this child. I will post updated news when I get it. Love to all, Suz

Cecily laughing at Mahala

The first part is the best after that Mahala started being goofy and Cecily was not as interested.

** Remember to pause music to hear Cecily :) & Enjoy!

More from Jan & Phoebe

The giving and receiving ceremony is completed. Next medicals for Phoebe.

Pray for Phoebe as she is adjusting to Jan well, however things trigger fear in her. Such as the van that brought Jan to the orphanage also pick them up for the Giving and Receiving Ceremony, Phoebe was pulling on Jan and was crying thinking she was going back to the orphanage. Pray that Jan will be able to reassure her that she is with them FOREVER.

Continue to pray for Vietnam that they will open their doors to Americans SOON!!!!

Love to all, Suz

(when I get permission from Jan I will post pictures of Jan and Phoebe)

The Meeting

The day that Jan has waited for has come. Phoebe knew what was going to happen. When they pulled up she ran to the van. She would call Jan "mama" and Thomas "brother". She smiles, laughs and kisses Jan. What a Gift from God!!!!!!

Pray for the rest of their trip and that they possibly might be able to come home 2 days early!!!

Love, Suz

News about Vietnam

Unfortunately I don't have any new news about the agreement :( How slow things are going one would think that this is not going to get done. But I have to have faith and patience!!!

As for the 20 families waiting, there is some encouraging news. FTIA has gotten in touch with a few people in Vietnam that could possibly help with the situation.

As for Jan, she is on a plane heading over to Vietnam to get her sweet little Phoebe!!!!! I will be checking her blog regularly so I will post any news when I hear of it. Pray for them as this is a big transition for the whole family.

Thanks for all your support and prayers this past year. We still need them. My heart so desires to have that little boy in my arms but I will have to wait on the Lord.

Love to all, Suz

TOMORROW IS THE DAY

Tomorrow morning Jan with her son and friend leave for Vietnam to get her precious little Phoebe!!!! I wish I could fit in her suitcase and go with her OR she could pick up our little boy while she is there :) Neither of those options are going to work so I guess I will have to sit in COLD Indiana and PRAY for her and wait for my turn.
Pray with me that Jan and Phoebe will have a bond like no other and that God would work in both their hearts as this will be a huge transition for them. Pray for safety as all 4 of them travel in Vietnam the next 2 weeks. Also pray for NO more delays

Love you Jan!!!!!
